The Thesis Sentence
What makes a good thesis sentence?
It makes a claim or provides an opinion about a topic.
It’s specific about the topic of the essay.
It’s clear and direct.
It leads the way for discussion of the topic.
It expresses only one main point.
After a thesis sentence states the claim or opinion (the topic), it often lists the areas of focus, or predictors (descriptions that predict the topics of the essay’s body paragraphs).
